Comparison between the Pleurocarpous Mosses-flora of Hebei and Its Nearby Regions

  • From 1995, a study of our Bryofloristic collections from Hebei Province has been developed. Up to now, there are 17 families, 66 genera and 196 species (including subspecies and varieties) pleurocarpous mosses have been distinguished. The pleurocarpous moss-flora in Hebei is subordinate to 9 areal types. North Temperate areal type takes the leading position, including 97 species, approximating to one half of all species in Hebei. Contrast to the North Temperate areal type, the tropical areal type is rare. The secondly important East Asian areal type has 54 species, accounting for 27.77%; among them, the main part is the Sino-Japan areal subtype. Old World Temperate and North Temperate areal types are 106 species, holding 55.50% of total. There are 81 common species pleurocarpous moss between Hebei Province and Eastern North America, (ta-)(king) 42.41% of all. To all appearances, the pleurocarpous moss-flora of Hebei is provided with evident temperate nature and East Asiatic element. We are concentrated on making a comparison between the pleurocarpous moss-flora of Hebei and those of neighboring regions, which are Northeast of China, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Mountains Qinling, Tibet,Mountains (Heng-)(duan,)by utilizing abundance index (AI),similarity coefficient of genus (SCG),comparison of the dominant families and floristic spectrum analysis (FSA). The results show that the AI of this category in Hebei is the forth and the rate of endemic species to China is high; similarity efficient between Hebei and Inner Mongolia is the biggest; Brachytheciaceae, Amblystegiaceae and Hypnaceae are dominant families ahead between Hebei and other six regions; tropical and subtropical elements reduce towards the North China, and temperate ones increase. All these demonstrate the complexion of moss-flora and the ancient character of origin of bryophytes in Hebei.Besides the intimate relationships of the moss-flora between China and Japan, Europe as well as Eastern North America have been full showed.
