Study on Antioxidant Activity of Total Saponins in Panax japonicus

  • Total saponins were isolated from ethanol extract of roots and ground parts of Panax japonicus by means of extraction and concentration.Different concentrations were prepared to study their antioxidant activity through gavage on male Kunming mice. The results showed that the low dosage and middle dosage of total saponins from roots of Panax japonicus and the middle and high dosage of total saponins from ground parts can significantly improve the activity of SOD and GSH,but reduce activity of MDA.Therefore, the results proved that the total saponins from roots and ground parts of Panax japonicus all have antioxidant activity.
