  • The present paper reports the karyotypes of 4 species of Polygonatum from Sichuan Jin-Fo-Shan. The results are as follows: P. kinganum Coll. et Hemsl. 2n=26=6m+12sm(2SAT)+8st(2SAT); P. franchetii Hua 2n=26=10m+4sm+12st; P. curvistylum Hua 2n=30=14m(2SAT)+4sm+10st+2t, 2n=28=14m+6sm+6st+2t; P. zanlanscianense Pamp. 2n=30=12m+8sm+10st, 2n=28=6m+10sm+10st+2t, 2n=22=2m+12sm+8st.As compared the number and morphologyof all chromosomes with other species, it may be seen that species in this region are more similar to those distributing over Himalayan region in characteristics of karyotype. In the trend of evolution of the chromosome number, aneuploid variation are predominant.
