KARYOTYPE ANALYSIS OF THREE SPECIES OF MORUS L.

  • The karyotype of 3 different psecies of Morus L. were compared using slides prepared by smear flame-drying method. The karyotype analysis showed that karyotype formula of M. atropurpurea Roxb. and M. multicaulis Perr. were 2n=2x=28=24m+4sm, that of M. mizuho Hotta. was 2n=2x=28=26m+2sm. The karyotypes of M. atropurpurea Roxb. and M. malticaulis Perr. appeared very similar and may belong to a same type. But, the karyotype of M. mizuho Hotta. was different from these two species.
