Abstract:
The genus
Herpothallonis distributed in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, primarily inhabiting moist, shaded areas. Through field surveys and collection of lichen samples, a taxonomic study was conducted based on morphological, anatomical, and chemical analyses. Notably, three new records for China were discovered, including
H. cinereum,
H. japonicum, and
H. queenslandicum. Their taxonomic characteristics are described, accompanied by photographs, and a comprehensive key for all known
Herpothallonspecies in China is provided.
