Abstract:
A newly recorded species of
Heterostemma (Apocynaceae),
H. barikianum P. Agnihotri, D. Husain, P. Katiyar, D. Sahoo, Rodda & T. Husain, is reported from Yunnan Province, China. This species can be readily distinguished from its congeners by its densely villous habit, halberd-shaped coronal lobes, and exceptionally short peduncles. Field surveys and herbarium collections were complemented by a comprehensive examination of original literature and type specimens archived in major databases, including Flora of China, POWO, IPNI, GBIF, JSTOR, and PPBC. Detailed morphological descriptions and color illustrations are provided to facilitate identification.
