Franch is a rare and precious medicinal herb in China and is distributed in the Xiang-xi regions of Hunan. Because of the natural resources of Swertia davidii
Franch having been destroyed seriously, this paper research systematically the way of artificial introduction and cultivation in order to offer substantial theoretical foundation for protecting of Swertia davidii
Franch. The results showed that Swertia davidii
Franch had high rate of fructification, low rate of germination and dormant period different with various conditions in the natural state, while had higher rate of germination and shorter dormant period in the artificial cultivation. The circumstances of introduction of the young Swertia davidii
Franch plants were relevant with selected condition of cultivation. Sand-fostered had the best effect among soil-fostered, sand-fostered and water-fostered, and medium-humid had the best effect among high-humid, medium-humid and low-humid. This experiment also showed that the artificial introduction and cultivation of Swertia davidii
Franch had been completely feasible.
