EFFECTS OF EMS ON THE GERMINATING SEEDS OF RICE

  • 摘要: 用不同浓度的EMS处理预浸泡的水稻种子,对水稻萌发种子细胞内呼吸代谢有明显的影响。低剂量的EMS刺激呼吸,提高细胞色素氧化酶和α-淀粉酶活性,从而促进了种子萌发和幼苗生长。较高剂量的EMS抑制呼吸以及与之有关的细胞色素氧化酶、α-淀粉酶和过氧化物酶等多种酶活性,科子发芽势和发芽率、幼苗生长高度和根系活力也随之下降。实验结果表明,EMS对细胞呼吸以及上述三种酶类活性的影响是导致水稻种子发芽率和幼苗生长高度、根系活力改变的重要生理原因。

     

    Abstract: Physiological process of germinating rice seeds is markedly influenced by the treatment of various concentrations of EMS ( ethyl methane sulphonate) after presoaking the seeds in water for 16—18 hours. The lower concentration of EMS stimulates the respiration and the activities of cytochrome oxidase and amylase, which associats with the higher rate of seed germination and seedling growth On the contrary, the inhibited effect is found by using the higher concentration of EMS (0.3—1.2%). The results show that the effects of EMS on the respiration and the activities of some enzymes of germinating seeds may be the important physiological cause of the chan es in germination, growth and root vigor of rice.
