Abstract: Each stamen hair of Tradescantia is composed of single chain of several cells.If there is not a special structure it can not withstand rigid conditions to carry out its function.SEM,TEM and cytochemical methods are used to observe the cell wall of Tradescantia stamen hairs.Cells of the stamen hair are specialized cells.The peripheral wall is covered with hydrophobic cuticle and waxy which are hard and thick.The anticlinal wall is thin.There are stripped projecting ridges on the surface of the wall.The stripped projections are different according to their parts,shapes and surface areas.
