STUDIES ON THE HYBRIDIZATION BETWEEN ACTINIDIA CHINENSIS VAR. CHINENSIS AND A.ERIANTHA

  • In this paper hybridization between A. chinensis Planch var. chinensis and A. eriantha was studied. The samples analysed were two hybrid combinations A. chinensis Planch. var. chinensis × A. eviantha and A. eriantha×A. chinensis Planch. var. chinensis, two control combinations A. eriantha×A. eriantha and A. chinensis Planch. var. chinensis×A. chinensis Planch. var. chinensis and two parental samples with natural pollination There were no differences in the rate of fructification between hybrid combinations and control ones, while it was significantly different between hybrid combinations and the parental samples with natural pollination. The seed number and fruit weight of the 6 samples were statistically analyed. The average seed numbers per fruit of the two hybrid combinations were significantly fewer than those of contr olones as well as their parental forms. And as the control combinations and parental forms, there was positive correlation between seed number and fruit weight. The results indicated that there was' some degree hybridization compatibility between the two species. It was inferred that the hybridization compatibility was directly related to their close relationship in phylogensis.
