  • The Fanjing Mountain National Nature Reserve is the highest peak in Wuling Mountain Range. It is located in North East of Guizhou Province, between 27°46′50″ and 28°1′30″ N,and 108°35′55″ and 108°48′30″ E,It is just the center of subtropics of China. It covers an area of Ca.600 km2,altitude is from 500 m to 2570.5 m above sealevel. The species of feral liana in this region are rich.In this paper, the author has studied the flora and ecological features of liana in Fanjing Mt.The results showed:(1) There are 4 forms,38 varieties,5 subspecies,206 species, belonging to 89 genera and 45 families of climbing liana.(2) The liana flora are originated since ancient time and are very complex in this area;liana flora in Fanjing Mt.is complex and is characterized by the dominance of tropical floral elements.According to the classification of the areal types or subtypes by professor Li Xiwen (1996),liana species may be divided into 18 areal types or subtypes, among wich the tropical elements account for 55.96%,the temperate elements only 42.21% and the endemic 1.83% in Fanjing Mt.(3) Perennial liana account for 98.42%,and annual 1.58%;ligneous liana account for 79.05%,and herbaceous liana 20.95%;evergreen liana account for 59.44%,and defoliated liana 37.75%,and half evergreen liana 2.81%.(4) The distribution situation of the liana has very close relation with vegetation type, soil, elevation above sealevel, humidity and temperature. The different liana distribut in different forest types.Anumber of species of liana decrease with altitudes and increase in different forest types.Different liana can be divided into lower, middle and subalpine mountain types.(5) In last of this paper, the author has also compiled "A List of Liana of the Fangjing Mountain.
