  • Shanxi Province is a distribution centre of Hippophae rhemnoides subsp. sinensis in modern times in China. H. rhemnoides subsp. sinensis is mainly distribution in the mountains or hills of 900~2700m above sea level in Shanxi Province. The total area is about 403 000 hm2. The different geogrophic distribution of H. rhamnoides subsp. sinensis scrub in Shanxi and the characteristics of its community were discussed. 98 samples were studied and the result shows that the scrub is composed of some floristic species and it contains 128 species of spermatophyte (8 species of trees,37 species of shrubs,83 species of herbs). The temperate floristic elements occupy a dominant position (80.7% of total genera. 81.6% of total species). Phytocoenological structure of the scrub is very similar in different geographic positions and elevation. But their floristic composition is different. H. rhamnoides subsp. sinensis scrub has two regeneration ways, namely ,clone and seeds. The former is of benefit to expanding its space or natural regeneration on the spot, the latter is of benefit to moving to other places and expanding its distribution range. In this paper the author gives dynamic succession model of H.rhamnoides subsp. sinensis scrub and makes some suggestions and measures of reasonable utilization of the scrub resources.
