  • According to extensive fieldwork as the basis for studying the characteristics and spe-cies diversity of the Mallotus paniculatus + Sterculia lanceolata + Microcos paniculata community in llha Verde Hill forest of Macau. The results showed that,70 vascular plant species belong to 65 genera and 42 families in a sampling area of 1700 m~2, and tropical elements predominated, making up of 90. 32%. This community belongs to the subtropical evergreen broad-leave forest and is characterized by evergreen liana phanerophytes (22.86%). The species diversity of the community is relatively poor with the Margalef index of 8. 78, the Shannon-Wienner index of 2. 22 ,the Simpson index of 0. 98 and the evenness index of 0.52. The sequence of species richness index, the Simpson index and the Shannon-Wienner index of every layers of the com-munity is shrub layer > tree layer > liana layer > herb layer, and the evenness index sequence is liana layer > tree layer > shrub layer > herb layer. It showed that there are more kinds of spe-cies in tree layer than that in shrub layer, and the dominant species of shrub layer are more ob-vious.
