  • Linwu Xishan lies in south west Hunan and possesses rich plant resources due to its unique valley and hill environment and superior natural conditions. These plant species include a variety of vascular plants consisting of 212 families,787 genera, and 1730 species,of which 174 families,699 genera, and 1516 species are seed plants.A detailed and accurate analysis on the characteristics of seed plant flora in Xishan was conducted. Results showed that they belonged to subtropical flora with a transition from central subtropical to south subtropical.Xishan was also found to be a connection area of South-China,East-China,Central China, and Dianqianguim and belonged to the Nanling Mountains,so a large number of endemic, rare, and endangered plants were discovered in this area. Thus,it is recommended that this area be preserved as a national forest and logging, reclamation, and medicinal plant collection be strictly forbidden.
