Abstract
The flowering mechanism of the male flower of ramie (Boehmeria nivea) was studied on anatomy with stereomieroscope and SEM. It is found that the structure and function of ramie filament are different from those of other plants. The mature pollen grains can spread out from anther sacs and spinkles up to the top of the plant; and this is resulted with the coordinating interreaction of the two following ways: one is the breaking of anther walls which caused by the unequal contraction of fibrous layer cells, the other is the turgor movement of cushion cells of endodermis of the filaments. The mechanism of the turgor movement of cushion parenchyma cells are discussed here.
