  • A new record centric diatom was found from Donghu Lake,Wuhan during the periphyton ecology investigation in 2004-2006,it shows close affinity to those of marine Eupodiscaceae species because of remarkable ocellus.As result,it is Pleurosira laevis(Ehrenberg)Compere.According to the study of Compere in 1982,we agreed that the name of Proteucylindrus taiwanensis Li et Chiang from Taiwan and Cerataulus laevis var. chinensis Grunow from Guangdong should be moved into this genus as P.socotrensis(Kitton)Compere.So,both species of Pleurosira were found from China.
