Abstract
Gametophytic development of two species Bolbitis hainanensis Ching et C.H.and Egenolfia appendiculata(Willd.) J.Sm.which included in Bolbitidaceae, were studied by the microscope.Their spores are all monolete. They germinate about 5 days after sowing. The germination is of the Vittaria-type and the gametophyte development is of the Drynaria-type.The prothallial plate is formed 30-35 days after sowing. The young prothalli are asymmetric and the mature ones are cordate with hairs. The sex organs appear about 55 days after sowing. We compared the differences between the two genera uniseriate germ filament, prochallus, rhizoid and antheridium, and discuss the system of Holttum and Ching’s system, beside we support the view of Ching’s system.
