  • Based on the data of 30 quadrats and 90 soil samples, the authors studied the relationships between the species diversity, which included number of trees, of shrubs, of herbs, total species number, total individual number, Simpson index and Shannon- Wienner Index, and the soil factors, which included soil depth, humidity, acidity, total ions of soil, available nitrogen, quick-acting phosphorus and total capacity of calcium & magnesium, using stepwise multilinear regression analyses.Besides a few of indices, most of the diversity indices were affected by the specific combination of soil factors, obvious differences between the regression correlations of Simpson index and those of ShannonWienner index had been found. The results also showed that soil acidity, depth, humidity, available nitrogen and quick-acting phosphorus of soil had important function on maintaining and developing of the diversity of the secondary forest communities on Zijin mountain.
