  • Based on the measurement of biomass and the rate of its increase, caloric values of respective plant organs, total energy of standing crop, annual net energy conversion and its efficiency in Michelia fujianensis community was determined. The results showed that some disparities of gross caloric value existed among plants organs in the community, e.g.the bark had the highest and the flowers the lowest. The total energy of standing crop in the community was 859.93×1010J/hm2, of which 723.67×1010J/hm2 (84.15%), was abovegound and 136254×1010J/hm2 (15.85%), underground.In1997 net energy fixation was 32.72× 1010J/hm2 and energy conversion efficiency of photosynthetic active radiation was 1536% for the community.
