  • The components and release amount of aroma in Cymbidium Hybrids and C. Miss Taipei was studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques (GC/MS).Results showed that the aroma components and contents differed between the two cultivars. There were 43 components identified in C.Hybrids, and the relative content was 97.13%.A total of 74 components were identified in C.Miss Taipei, and the relative content was 73.76%.Very few components were the same between the two cultivars. The relative content of 4-methyl-phenol was highest in the two cultivars. Both 4-methyl-phenol and propylcyclopropane were the major aroma components in C.Hybrids, and their relative content was 53.97%.Some 23components,which contained 4-methyl-phenol,2-ethyl-butanal,and hexane, were the major aroma components in C.Miss Taipei, and their relative content was 55.15%.
