  • Cymbidium ×malipoense L. J. Chen, H. B. Zhou & Z. J. Liu, from Malipo County, Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated as a new hybrid species of Orchidaceae. This new species may be a natural hybrid between Cymbidium erythraeum Lindl. and C. eburneum var. longzhouense Z. J. Liu et S. C. Chen. It differs from C. erythraeum by: scape arising from axils of leaves; sepals and petals pale yellow-green, distinctly marked with reddish-brown longitudinal stripes and irregular spots; disc with yellow lamellae; column pale purple-red, and mid-lobe cordate to reniform. Cymbidium erythraeum differs from the new species by: sepals and petals green with heavy reddish-brown longitudinal stripes and irregular spots; mid-lobe cordate to ensiform; and disk densely hairy. The new species differs from C. eburneum var. longzhouense by: sepals and petals pale yellow-green, distinctly marked with reddish-brown longitudinal stripes and irregular spots; side-lobe with purple-red stripes; and column pale purple-red. Cymbidium eburneum var. longzhouense differs from the new species by: sepals and petals white, usually tinged pink on outer surfaces; and lip white, conspicuously mottled purplish pink on lateral lobes and mid-lobe.
